Sadly a baby rabbit came out of it's hole, right into Max's sights.
Rabbits cry horribly. Luckily, it did not suffer long.
Had to dispose of the body. Not fun.
So much for reading in the back yard on my day off. It's a reminder of the real world. My military profession usually celebrates making ace, but, I'm not feeling like the O Club right now...

He didn't eat the bunny? Oh, my - I'll lend you my Senator Dufus Claudius Felis to give him lessons on what to do with prey.
Max does not toy with his kills. It was a quick, clean kill. I had to get rid of it, fast, to prevent the other animals in my surprisingly predator-rich area from homing in on the site. There is plentiful small game in the area, due to nearby creeks, and wooded shelter.
The rabbits literally holed up for the day, after they scented Max.
Note for James: I keep a .22LR handy for just such work. Probably the best round ever manufactured for general purpose use.
Once this land was forest. I suspect it will be again.
