My only surprise is that this hasn't happened sooner. It was obvious months ago that Bush had zero political capital left; I suppose inertia held the GOP together a few extra months.
But now, at long last, Congress has reasserted control of the government. It will be a brief interregnum -- but interesting things might be accomplished while the consulate is unoccupied...

It also marks a beginning realization that the health care system will need to be demolished and rebuilt.
ReplyDeleteThe practice of the *art* of medicine will continue. How we view the costs and benefits will change radically, I suspect.
